Tuesday March 14th

Race 1
Typically run maiden race.  The slowed to a walk once they settled & the race was handed to the fav Wheresthestorm.  I dont think he had much up the sleeve late but was good enough to win with the run he had.  Thought Pink Scooter is worth following.  Did the work in the breeze and didnt give up for a solid 2nd.  My Ultimate Rusty was a forgive run getting suck behind tiring horses.  Highwaywriter was the unlucky runner in the race.  I doubt many of these are going to great heights though.

Race 2
I got this one wrong.  Ryan Hryhorec got Carly Morgan to the breeze fairly easily from the backrow & dictated the race.  I thought she was vulnerable from there but was too good.  Moreartsthanclass & Our Amazing Grace both forgive runs & I thought Beach Time was a solid 3rd after working 3 wide without cover the final lap.

Race 3
After a solid lead time Son Of Zodiac worked to the lead and slowed them to a 63.4s first half.  Thoght he had every chance to win but it was a very impressive win from Sylvia Kay first up for the Douglas camp.  She put them away very quickly after being unleashed from the 400m and it was a big margin.  I doubt she'll stay in the Sunraysia for long off the back of that run.  The rest struggled

Race 4
Great drive on Flame Blaster by Sam Pascoe to salute & it was a well deserved win.  Frankntank behaved and was a solid 2nd.  Bulldog Brawler keeps starting massive odds & was another good run off a soft trip..  You could probably forgive those on speed because it was a strong tempo for a 50 rating race.  Woody Nightshade was an eyecatcher & will be better from a good gate in future

Race 5
Too good for these Coco Beach & defied a small drift.  I underestimated The Bands Playing gate speed (maybe Wayne Hills ability to get them off the gate) & he's run a cracking 2nd.  Holzhauer not far away from a win.  Half Moon Beach again showed his dislike for the 2190m when leading.  Pulled hard & that was the end of his chances.  Wait for him to get back to the 1790m to show his best.  Colerne was held up at a vital stage and shouldve finished closer without winning

Race 6
Wont see many better drives to get Promise Me Heaven over the line Ryan Sanderson.  Was 3 pegs, waited for tiring horses to clear a path & whooshka.  Plenty of interference in this & heaps of forgive runs to mention but thought My Ultimate Billy was the biggest of the lot.

Race 7
They went far too quick for 54 raters over the 2190m & the swoopers lapped it up.  31.2s last quarter & you wanted to be on Feisty Phoebe a long way out. Storm Stride was a pass mark stepping up in grade & my roughy of the night Triplets had zero luck at 100-1 to run 4th.  I doubt those odds will be available from a similar draw next time.

Race 8
We have a new king of Mildura in Sahara Tiger.  Had the run & just nabbed Bernie Winkle on the line with Bernie having every chance.  Rick Reilly was ok in 3rd.  Jack Sportswriter was a great run out in front & hes ready for easier.

Race 9
Not much to take out of this one.  Bundle Of Notes led, walked & outstayed the small field.   Alexis Rocket battled on ok from the death & Arocknatthepark was a forgive run due to the slow pace.

Race 10
I cant believe Fortitudo has saluted after following pretty much throughout the season, I didnt have a cent on.  It was a better than average speed on throughout but he's run a career best at Mildura here to come from last & win at massive odds.  It still hurts.  Dontwritemeoff was good out in from from a wide draw & that 29s first quarter might have cost him.  Im lining up Im Alright Jack once he draws to lead.  Racing so well from bad draws.  His turn is soon.

Race 11
Strong win from Rays Daughter.  I didnt think she could win from the death but Wayne Hill snuck into the 1x1 from the wide draw & that was the winning move.  Only In Rome had every possible chance.  Still thought he ran 2nd but missed the place!   Sonnys Amazing was good from the death & Robert Crocker is slowly returning to form but showed again his best is on speed over the 1790m.  Ozzie Daybreak is still looking for a run & forget he went around

Race 12
It looked Dallas Miki's race on paper but sheez it took a hell of a lot of driving to get him over the line.  A return to form from the good draw Apache Wind but he had every possible chance.  Elizabethan Era the best of the beaten brigade but I had to look hard!

February 22nd

Race 1:
Illawong Kim led on its ear and ran them longin quick time for this class.  Strong win.  Chlow Ann every possible chance in 2nd whilst Shireen keeps unning eye catchers from bad draws.  Not much to take out of this one.

Race 2:
Simply too good Ultimate Trouble.  The leaders walked and had every chance but from the 1x1 he sprinted too quickly.  Flame Blaster another eye catcher in an unsuitable race and forget Anther Sparky went around.  Not a death seat horse & tried badly.

Race 3
Strong win from The Bands Playing.  Driven aggressively to land the death from the 2nd row & was far too good.  Dallas Patrick is screaming out for a good draw & Childers Road is racing well without luck

Race 4:
Son Of Zodiac brained them.  Led & gave nothing else a chance.  Better wins coming from it.  Mista Pumblechook close to win in a race he maps to lead.

Race 5:
Fast race with Treacherous Saint trying to outstay them infront.  Did well to hold 3rd. Promise Me Heaven is a strong fella & probably deserved to win after all the work he did in the race, only beaten a short half head.  All Da Rage was a big improver 2nd up for Kate Attard but that shouldn't be a surprise.  They consistently improve new horses to their stable.  Lose A Shoe did plenty of work in the race & looked disappointing but I just think he's a horse that races best when bowling along in front.  I'll be back on once he draws to do so.

Race 6:
Im Reggie had every possible chance in front in a slowly run race but couldn't hold off the awkward Spring Delight.  Always looks like he's about to jump out of his gear that horse & if you're on as a punter you're holding your breath the whole race!  Neds Beach a much improved run from the 1 gate as well.

Race 7:
Sahara Tiger looked the ratings special & after he strolled to the front from the 2nd row, he was!  The placegetters Stormont STar & Goodtime MAddie were both very good & worth following in a race without Sahara Tiger!

Race 8:
Got out to a nice price Gracie Cullen & was too good after they went too quick early.  Coco Beach the one to follow.  Battled on well to hold 2nd after death seating but is probably looking for a 55 & under rating race.

Race 9
Dominate win Half Moon Beach.  He a 10yo but is racing in career best form.  The key though is 1790m racing.  Dont Write Me Off is looking for a race where he can lead. Good run though.  Storm Stride was good again also & a win isn't far away

Race 10
Too good for these Denzil Bro.  Not much else to take away from this one

Race 11
Big form reversal Avoca Blues.  Led & weakened over the 1790m last week against pretty much the same field.  Leads, runs along & brains them tonight over the 2190m.  Enough to pull your hair out if you took the shorts the week before!  Will be winning better races than that on that performance but I think this race wasn't exactly star studded.  My Ultimate Rusty the forgive run after breaking around the first turn.

Race 12
I couldn't have backed Moreartsthanclass on it's last start performance but showed how much he loves a quiet pegs run here & outsprinted them late.  NOTED!  Sonnys Amazing was strongly backed into a ridiculous price & was just OK after leading.  Had every chance.  As did Eddee back in 3rd.  Kitch Macray was a much improved run.

February 14th

Summary:
First surprise for me was seeing Rays Daughter leading so easily.  I should never underestimate Wayne Hills ability to get them off the mobile so quick.  There was plenty of interference in this with Son Of Zodiac not handling the tight turns of Mildura and knocking over Artisticbutnaughty with more than half the field impacted.  I doubt they beat Rays Daughter anyway with the mare winning easily in a very slick time for this class of horse. Was only 1 quarter where she took a breather and she's well worth following going forward in a similar scenario.  Too many forget runs in this to list but the one I was mainly focused on was Dallas Patrick.  Total forgive & maybe that will equate to a better price next time?

Picture
Summary:
Avoca Blues was backed as if unbeatable, $2 into $1.2 at one stage but unfortunately for those that were involved in the plunge he was.  Probably had to work to hold the lead a little more than expected but was still disappointing.  Storm Stride the big eye catcher.  He was the one applying the pressure early on before taking the 1x1 sit.  Got held up slightly approaching the final bend that that might have been the difference between winning & losing.  Glitzy All Over had the charmed run 3 pegs & run at the exact right time but still, a big improvement to win from her previous runs.  Im Alright Jack is screaming out for a good draw in this class whilst Balmy Bob was unlucky not to run a place after being held up but I doubt he was a winning chance.

Follow:  Im Alright Jack, Storm Stride

Summary:
To put it simply, they just ran along to quick over the 2190m for this class and the 31s last quarter tells the story. Half Moon Beach got fired up in front and had to tire & he's almost in the 1790m only bucket for me now.  Wont sack him over that run.  Martha Lavinia was strong yet again after death seating in the strong tempo.  Caribbean Magic had the perfect drop on them & was superbly driven by Albie to win easily.  Ultimate Trouble probably had a case to be included in the unlucky bucket but the winner did seem to hold the margin the last 20 metres or so.  Flame Blaster showed he thrives off one big 200metre sprint flashing home for 3rd from last but it's mighty hard to win at Mildura with that racing pattern.  The biggest watch was on Childers Road.  Never really got a crack at them 1st up for Aaron Coad and it always a good sign to see what horse are up the front 20m past the line & he was right there with them.  Ive got a massive respect for the Coad stable.  Doing great things with a small team (similar can be said for Kerr & Attard stables too)

Follow:  Childers Road
Picture
Summary:
Gotta love Albie on a leader.  Was able to hold out the early challenges from his 2 main threats and then dictated the race perfectly.  43.3 lead time followed up with a close to 62s first half meant Another Sparky was near impossible to run down however if Montana Pride did get a run I dare say it wins.  Albie laid back in the cart as long as he could before cutting the ribbons & that was the difference.  31.1s last quarter!  Only In Rome was ok from the death after working early. Gotonebettor should've finished 4th if Jordie stuck to the fence.  I thought Mister Pumblechook was a total forget run.  The race & draw didn't suit but he should've finished much closer.  Racing well.  Robert Crocker is crying out for a restricted race over the 1790m.  He was gone a looooooong way out!

Follow:  Mister Pumblechook
Picture
Summary:
They went quick early & kept rolling in this but thats to be expected in this class, a level lower than a typical fast class at Mildura.  I thought Lose A Shoe was a great run considering the time.  He was up in class from previous runs so Im a little confused as to why the stewards have queried the run.  Nothing wrong with the run if you ask me!  Arocknatthepark will be better for the experience around Mildura as he didnt really handle the turns that well.  Was ok in 3rd.  Great drive & win Stormont Star/Jordie Leedham.  Took off to race in the death once they settled in front & was too strong at the finish.  He'll be winning better races for the Attard camp who's horses race so consistently.  Thought Cutty Sark was the forgive run & one to follow from the race.  Was always at the rear of the field and finished off well late to be the best of the swoopers.

Follow:  Cutty Sark
Picture
Summary:
The fast class race of the night & boy it was fast early alright.  We'll leave it to the stewards to investigate and tell the final story but the pace was far too strong early even for this grade.  Considering the pace, Foolish Pleasure has done a massive job to only finish 1.20m off the winner.  Dancing Finn had every chance to win outright but couldn't go past Dennis who in hindsight was big overs from the kind draw.

Follow:  Foolish Pleasure (if they ever return!)
Picture
Summary:
The plunge lands with Heaven Attacts.  Well, was it a plunge or an adjustment before the MBL kick in?  Was $4 to $2 by the time MBL was in place.  Well driven by the young fella Luke Dunne who was able to get to the death quick & really dictated the race from there in extremely slow sectionals.  Mdern Ginger might've gone too slow but looked disappointing after leading in a 65.2s first half.  The swoopers had no chance in this so happy to forgive most from this race and move on quickly.
Picture
Summary:
I seriously underestimated Promise Me Heaven in this.  He was simply too good for this lot from the death.  Lesson learnt!  Leaders had their chance in Colerne & Rosco's Rescue with the latter a little disappointing & maybe he's found his right class.  Stylish Gem usually takes a few runs to hit her straps & she did well to finish off like she did & could be coming on quicker this time in although she did have a quiet peg line run.
Picture
Summary:
Caulonia Courage isn't the most reliable horse but did everything right & won easily. Spring Delight on the other hand looked a winning chance before pacing extremely roughly the last 200 metres.  Hopefully nothing wrong with the horse as he didnt look comfortable at all late.  Justburnforu another one that misbehaved & will now have to put up with ODM.

Picture
Summary:
Good competitive race on paper & it turned out that way.  Denzil Debro deserved the win after doing all the work & looked a dead duck with 100m to go but lifted itself off the canvas to win.  Mightve been a case however of My Ultimate Rusty not being good enough to beat it after having every possible chance especially in a 31.2s last quarter.  Wonda will again be better for the run but her lack of gate speed is a problem around Mildura if she continues to race here.
Picture
Summary:
Wont be following Kitch Macray for a while after watching that.  Had every chance in front and didnt give a yelp.  Lorne Beach got the exact run it enjoys & no surprise to see him salute.  I was surprised to the "QIP" from the stewards considering that!  Not much to take out of this race apart from the disappointing runs of Kitch Macray & Moreartsthanclass
Picture
Summary:
Surprised by the lack of gate speed from Arma Veyron & had an "ohh no" moment when Rocking Wroxton led.  He had his chance in front and maybe the 1790m is more his go or there could still be some issues with the boy. No prepared to sack him yet but would need to see an improved effort soon. Arma Veyron was ordinary, Fortitudo & Tell Us We Dream did what they do & finished on strong without winning.  The Dux was unwanted in betting & faded out after doing nothing in the run.  Outa Control, if you backed him, you'd be pulling your hair out.  Wins with any "luck" you'd think.  I couldn't have backed Elizabethan Era pre race & it was a surprise to see him win so easily.  The 31.2s last quarter was probably the key though.  I just think the 2190m sorted a few of these out & I'm not overly keen to use this as a form reference

December 13th

Picture
Summary:  That was the Jordie Dee of last season.  Found gate speed & was able to hold in quick early sectionals.  Got a breather in the 2nd quarter but still a great effort to win by 14.6m.  Head scratcher on Martha Lavinia.  Horse was never put into the race so best to forgive.  Seems like I mention Always A Celebrity every week.  Still waiting for a 2190m race.  Horse is racing extremely well
Picture
Summary:  Dougs Cino far too good.  Not much to take out of the rest.
Picture
Summary:  Big win from Spring Delight.  Showed gate speed I didnt think it had & brained them! Good run from Gotonebettor but he was no match for the winner.  Im Alright Jack the best of the rest having come 3 wide without cover to snag 3rd beaten a long way.  Its best suited when drawn to lead
Picture
Summary:  Kicking myself for not tipping Half Moon Beach.  The only horse you wanted to be on in the run & he won accordingly.  Waiting For You the unlucky runner only seeing daylight from behind the leader late but was never winning.  Courtney Katarina will be winning one soon IF he can find the front.  Draws 1 Monday night.
Picture
Summary:  Superb drive Sam Pascoe.  It was a slow front line & she took the iniative to push hard from a wide gate on Only In Rome to lead.  Stole a cheap first quarter before making them chase & he won easily in the end.  The Sneaky Fox went ok but his lack of gate speed doesnt suit Mildura racing.  Bezzaboma & Sonnys Amazing both forgive runs.
Picture
Summary:  Led easily & had to win with the run it had Im The Bounty Hunter but wasn't overly impressive.  Much better run from Orama and obviously the stable expected it.  I think it was around $15 into $6! Thought Colerne was the forgive run.  Got stuck behind the tiring Tale Of The Dragon and ended up having to circle the whole field to get a clear run.  Keep following!
Picture
Summary:  Was game set match 400m after the start for My Ultimate Billy.  Connor Clarke got off the fence to take a running line position & he was too strong for these.  In great form & got out to a ridiculous price.  A much better run from Sir Roman from the death in the lower class. Shadow Terror had excuses after electing to take a peg run early & not stay in the running line.
Picture
Summary:  A 57.6 last half sorted them out in the back of the field.  Cutty Sark got the run he needed & just held on.  Thought Brantley was very good in 2nd considering the sprint home the last half.  Overpowering just let the leader go too slow in the early stages.  He needs to be going quick sectionals throughout to show his best.
Picture
Summary:  Another shocker by me in this race.  Bernie Macray was beautifully driven by Corey Johnson, dictated the race from the death after Im Stuck Man surprisingly held the lead before Bernie Macray finally took over before the bell.  Strong win.  Tarifa Girl was good from the death.  Storm Stride had his chance.  Yering Soho goes into the sacked bin.  Was in a pig of a mood and just didn't want to be out there.

December 5th

Picture
Summary:  Rocking Wroxton led, kept them rolling as he likes to do & was the deserved winner. That was probably a career high run for him & the type of run that'll win him a race the next level up.  Hard watch on Half Moon Beach.  He looked ready to unleash before hitting the sulky in front of him & breaking. Finished off well.  Who knows how close he gets but it was a forgive run.

Follow:  Rocking Wroxton
Forgive:  Half Moon Beach

Picture
Summary:  Smart win from the death Sporting Grace.  I don't think we'll be seeing her around here for a little while, bigger races for her.  Every chance for Avoca Blues who just held on for 2nd.  Powersofpersuasion is so close to a win

Follow:  Powersofpersuasion

Picture
Summary:  She had a lot more speed than I thought Mischievous Maggie.  led easily & it was race over.  Tell Us We Dream another good run & is bursting to win a race.

Follow:  Tell Us We Dream

Picture
Summary:  A crazy early speed for 50 raters over the 2190m & they set it up for the swoopers, exactly what Gracie Cullen needed.  She won easily.  Colerne had it's chance and was ok in 2nd.  Courtney Katarina has gone huge.  Was set a task by Mark Riseley pushing Smiling Shady hard throughout in the death & if it was for locking wheels on the turn may have held 3rd or should've at least finished closer.  She's ready to win from the right draw.

Follow:  Courtney Katarina
Picture
Summary:  A brutal 40.6 lead time with Another Sparky having to be lit up to cross those on it's inside & then being tested by Micton Mouse who finally found the lead after Roberts Delight made a 3 wide move.  That set the race up for a swooper with a 31.9s last quarter & Wayne Hill said thank you very much on Allthewaytoroyalty at massive odds. Micton Mouse a big forgive run.  Roberts Delights lack of early speed is a concern for him around here going forward.  Forget Spring Delight went around & worth following Rainbow Rain especially now he's back to a 50 rating after that race.

Follow: Rainbow Rain, Micton Mouse
Forgive:  Spring Delight
Picture
Summary:  Brilliant from Abbey Sanderson on United.  She could not have gone any slower in front & they let her get away with.  Easy win in the end & had to be with the run it had. Cemetery Bay, just forget it went around.  Needed speed on early & this race was the slowest 1st 3 sectionals over the 2190m for the night - for the fast class race! Wont be a form race going forward Id say.
Picture
Summary:  We've got some great trainers with small teams around the Sunraysia that consistently win races & Kate Attard is brilliant at getting her team up and running.  I dare say she's had some challenges with the amount of rain thats gone through their home track for training but that hasn't upset the form of her horses.  Here is another that she's taken over the training off thats flyng, My Ultimate Billy. Had no right to win this race after getting the speed wobbles early & breaking.  Still settled 3 pegs & the master of winning from 3 pegs Jack Laugher was on but it won well considering.  Better races for it.  Shadow Terror is ready to win & Orama stays in the follow column.  Not sure what to make of Im The Bounty Hunter but he should improve off that run.  Our Amazing Grace didnt have much room & probably an excuse whilst Holzhauer was a total forgive run being taken out of the race by the tiring Yoursnmine.  Plenty going on in this one!

Follow:  My Ulitmate Billy, Shadow Terror, Orama
Forgive:  Holzhauer, Our Amazing Grace

Picture
Summary:  You'd still be feeling sick today if you took the shorts on Tay Tay.  In a race that really was just a sprint home she got the job done from 3 pegs after some pushing & shoving from Albie.  A few nervous moments through the race as she put in a few rough ones but it ended well.  Dancing Finn the best run out of the rest after death seating the last lap.  Just kept kicking

Follow:  Dancing Finn
Picture
Summary:  Albie stacked them & racked them after leading when Jay Miller misbehaved early.  Cavalry probably a little stiff not to have gone a lot closer after going for a run that may not have been there & racing rough.  Bernie Macray is coming along nicely from bad draws. Close to winning one from the right draw.  Tarifa Girl wasnt suited in the death but someone had to be there.  Was a good run considering

Follow:  Bernie Macray
Picture
Summary:  Good win by Springfield Shadow after coming wide from 2nd last.  Deserved the win.  Good drive by Wayne Hill to get Gotonebetter up on speed when they were walking in front.  Nearly got the choccies because of the drive but just couldn't hold them off. Eddie keeps racing well but needs everything to go right in it's races to win.  Classic Reactor was good from last & Terror To Rock had no excuses after leading.  Might be better over the 1790m

Follow:  Gotonebetter
Picture
Summary:  He's a ripper Bezzabomba.  Loves the 1790m & even though a few things went his way deserved the win at big odds.  Stonebridge Star broke at the start which was a surprise & safe to say, should've won with even luck.  Will be ODM now.  Mods looked unlucky but I reckon Bezzabomba held him comfortably late.  I think thats now the last 3 starts they've decided to hold the lead on Lilbitahenrytee & he's been found wanting late.  (Although nothing really challenged him for the lead either tonight) Better sit sprinter for mine.  Magnified just did everything wrong without breaking. Not sure if it was the track or it's mood but it was an ugly watch.  Im waiting for the 2190m for Always A Celebrity.  Ticking along nicely.

Follow:  Always A Celebrity
Picture
Summary:  This was an old fashioned Albie special on Impetuoso.  Sped to the led & after a comfortable enough middle section, cut the ribbons in the 3rd quarter running 28.8s.  Horses in restricted races just cant keep up at that speed & it was race over with many trying to pick their tongues up from off the ground.  Rock Ruby Rock was the one that caught my eye.  Got stuck behind a tiring runner & probably should've finished 2nd at least.

Follow:  Rock Ruby Rock

November 21st Meeting Review

Picture
Comments:  Fast lead time but Our Modern Minnie run the race to suit after that.  She's won easily and will be winning better races when drawn to lead. Pegs / pegs /pegs finish indicates the sort of race it was, making ground out wide was near impossible. Forget Stonebridge Star went around BUT thats they its always driven.  Forever in the blackbook
Picture
Comments:  Raced change complexion after Another Sparky broke after looking like crossing Im Alright Jack early.  Outta Control was knocked out of the raced from the interference.  Im Alright Jack had to win with the run it had (62.7s first half) and did.  Impetuoso had the perfect run on it's back and had every opportunity.  Same for Chloe Ann 3 pegs.  Half Moon Beach the eye catcher.  Racing very well & a win not far away.
Picture
Comments:  Lilbitahenrytee decided to hold the lead & Martha Lavinia decided to test those tactics for the first 500 metres & it was game over for both of them.  Martha Lavinia not disgraced in still finishing 4th after death seating.  Dont think she would've won from the lead anyway because Mischievous Maggie brained them!  Great drive by Wayne Hill to take off before the bend and put the result to bed.

Follow:  Mischievous Maggie
Forgive:  Martha Lavinia

Picture
Comments:  Avoca Blues had it's chance to beat Chirripo but the latter was too good - just!  Powersofpersuasion is improving every start and is ready to win against weaker.
Picture
Comments:  Quick lead time and that may have gassed a couple up front.  Thought Trebek was disappointing all the same along with Ozzie Daybreak who has lost all form.  Rojenbye shouldve finished much closer & Triplets never saw daylight either - both forget runs. Colerne also had traffic issues & finished off well. I must admit, I ruled a line through Feisty Phoebe from the draw pre race but a mare in form is always hard to beat & she's exactly that. Things get tougher for her though now being a 57 rater.

Forgive: Colerne, Triplets
Follow: Rojenbye
Sacked:  Ozzie Daybreak
Picture
Comments:  Our Amazing Grace stuffed the start which gave He's A Modern Boy an easy lead & eventually the easiest of leads to United.  62.3 for a horse of his class around here was always going to be hard to roll after that & they couldn't.  Great run from Guaranteed Secret after death seating.  A win not far away in a suitable race.  Mytime is another Ex Stewart runner that was legless first up & no doubt will take time to find his feet around Mildura.

Follow:  Guaranteed Secret
Sacked: Mytime
(I was never following in the first place but that was a poor run)
Picture
Comments:  Westray did everything he could to throw the race away in the straight having a good look around but somehow managed to hold on.  It was a ridiculously slow 1st half with stablemate happy to sit parked Mister Excessive (65.5s!) so forgive those trying to make ground from back in the field.  Im Reggie looked stiff whilst I wouldn't be disregarding Sadie Jayne going forward either.  Race just didnt suit.
Picture
Comments:  Another ridiculously slow run race and somehow the leaders struggled.  46.2 lead time is usually expected in restricted grade & they backed that up with a 64.7s first half.  Fair to say My Ultimate Billy was very disappointing & the market picked it. $1.8 out to $3.5.  Linxx was simply too good coming from last to run straight past them in a 28.8 last quarter. Has to be massive question marks on this race though because of the tempo - I dont think I'll be using it as a form guide going forward.
Picture
Comments:  Muckinbar Diva braking really threw the race open & after the early burn from Thomas Heights & Premonition, Overpower lapped that up and made sure they kept rolling from the death.  Thats his sort of race & he was too strong for them.  Cemetery Bay - geez I was counting the cash thinking on the turn but I reckon those consistently fast sectionals took a bit of sprint out of his legs.  Not sacking him on that but did have every chance.
Picture
Comments:  Lets start with my best bet Four Starzzz Ruby.  Led as expected, slowed them to a walk but I was a little concerned when Luke Watson asked her to skip away at the 800m when her dangers were making there runs & she couldn't sprint.  Really disappointing run.  That also meant Jordie Dee was stuck behind them looking for runs & there was none.  Poor punting race for me!  Classic Reactor enjoyed the drop in class & obviously is where he races best.  He's not typically a horse that can come 3 wide without cover & win but did that & those behind him had there chance to win.  Good win.  Glizty All Over the best of the beaten brigade
Picture
Comments;  Mista Pumblechook looked the moral of the meeting & he was.  Led easily & was never losing.  Many of the beaten brigade just dont race competitively anymore.  Maybe a forgive to Eddee who didnt have much racing room but this wont be a form race.
Picture
Comments:  I must admit I got excited when our roughy tip Too Many Days ambled to the lead early & managed to walk them in a 64.6 first half @ $26 but unfortunately he was nearly the first horse beaten.  Bravely Done was a big form reversal back at Mildura from his SA form & was stiff not to win.  The odds on favourite struggled around the tight turns & was a disappointing 4th.  Major West keeps turning up to races supported - I think punters have surely figured out now it needs absolutely everything to go right for it to be a chance in its races.

November 15th RACE REVIEWS

Picture
Comments:  Our Master Play led them fairly easily & that spelt trouble for Credulous with Emjaybee able to dictate the race from the death.  Not much between the the 2 though in ability.  Not much to take out of this one
Picture
Comments:  The swoopers had their chance with a 31.7s last quarter & that was Tell Us We Dream thanks to a great drive from Wayne Hill.  Boris was doing Boris things at the bell attacking the leaders on Good Word That before it broke.  Ozzie Daybreak wasn't handing up the death & the quick middle sections sorted him out.  Forget he went around.  Mods battled on well & I liked the run of Lilbitahenrytee.  Was in the early burn & had to absorb some mid race pressure before handing up to Mods.  Ready to win again.

Follow:  Lilbitahenrytee
Picture
Comments:  He loves to lead Trebek & got the run he needed to win.  They did run a quick lead time & 1st quarter so the win was strong.  CC Jones worth following after having to sustain a 3wide run without cover for the last lap & forget Waiting For You went around, finished off strongly after being held up & worth noting he was pushing for the lead in the strong lead time.

Follow:  CC Jones, Waiting For You

Comments:  I gave Half Moon Beach no chance from the 2nd row, even with a peach of a drive from Michelle Phillips it's gone big based on previous form coming out wide to outsprint them in the straight. Im Alright Jack's run would usually win a 51 rater but Half Moon Beach was too quick in the 29.7 last quarter.  The rest were beaten easily.  Forgive Wemen Bella whos's lack of gate speed cost it.  Never saw daylight.  Gilardi's form looks to have dropped away from the horse we saw a couple of months ago

Comments:  Feisty Phoebe showing she gets out of the mobile far quicker from out wide yet again & it was a great drive from Luke Watson to keep Fomo in a pocket late.  Positions might have been reversed otherwise.  Fomo has never raced better & goes close with a clear run.  Coco Beach worth following after finishing close up after death seating & Fifty Shades Cresco never got a crack but it has to be driven for luck & that happens a lot!  Might be a good form race this one

Comments:  Led a bit easier than I expected Cutty Sark & won accordingly.  Its flying.  Holzhauer continues to race well when the conditions suit

Comments:  Too good out in front Khaki Nui.  Thomas Heights a much better run after using his gate speed early.  Rocket Boy an eyecatcher.

Comments:  Lightning Jash I was against in this race but it led much easier than I expected, ran close to a 65s 1st half & that was race over.  Doesn't want it much strong than this though.  Wild Man looked a danger late off the good run & Two Sock Creek let the leader get away with too much from the death & couldn't outsprint it.  A forget race really.

Comments:  A more aggressive approach saw Mister Excessive get the choccies here & he was much too good.  Yering Soho is racing well & was a nice 2nd
Picture
Comments:  Micton Mouse was down in grade, well backed & won accordingly.  Yep, I missed it!  Chloe Ann is always around the mark & she caught the eye even though beaten 21m.  If she finds a more suitable race shes ready to win.  Classic Reactor went awful,  Had the peg run he needed but just battled.  Maybe being pushed to hold 3 pegs early took its toll but I'm grasping at straws I think.

Comments:  Big improver to win here Pete Mitchell & I dare say liked being driven with a sit.  Great drive Tayla French to take 3 pegs which no other driver wanted.  Quite often a great place to be at Mildura even without the sprint lane in low class races because many average horses are tiring at the turn.  Happy to forgive horses that were making there runs out wide late in what was really just a sprint home.

Comments:  There was a bit of craziness early on between The Trainman & Mister Pumblechook & even though they backed off to a 32s 1st quarter, Mister Pumblechook got too fired up in the death & a 30.2 2nd & 30.1 3rd quarter sorted them both out.  A real messy race & had to take much out of it when theyve finished off in 32.2!

November 8th Review

 RACE 1
2190m Up to 42NR

Summary:  Strongly run race for the restricted horses.  42.2 lead time is too strong for these and there we some feeling the pinch a long way out & they broke 60 secs for the last half.  Martha Lavinia was the one you wanted to be on a long way out and she saluted accordingly.  Its Nicholas the best run in the race after death seating throughout & just kept finding.

Following:  Its Nicholas

RACE 2
1790m NR up to 45

Summary:  For this grade they ran along at the same fractions throughout really giving all horse an opportunity to win.  Jordie Dee was just too strong out in front and a deserved winner.  Tell A Tall Story the forgive run.  Dragged back at the 600metres by tiring runners and did well to finish close up in 5th.

Forgive:  Tell A Tall Story

RACE 3
2190M NR up to 50

Summary:  Beartastic Writer got fired up early after Mods looked it in the eye & returned a 41.4 lead time which is extremely quick for this grade.  It suited the swoopers (only a 31.2 last quarter) but they couldn't catch him.  Gilardi was the one I thought could've swooped but it was given too big a task coming 5-6 wide on the turn from last.  Still, his run might have peaked 20 from home and he might not be going as well as he was a month ago.  Not taking much out of this race.

RACE 4
2190M NR up to 50

Summary:  Geez they went quick early in this & those on speed had a massive task to hold on.  It was all thanks to Dougs Cino who got extremely fired up after being asked to push through & lead from gate 6. Stonebridge Star was an awful watch if you backed him & should've finished much closer.

Forgive:  Stonebridge Star

RACE 5
1790M NR50 - 53

Summary: Extremely easy win for Lightning Jash after it led easily & walked the first half.  Those trying to make runs out wide late had no hope in the 28.1 sec last quarter.  Southern Burgundy Im happy to follow.  The inside back row draw wasn't his go as he has little gate speed.  With a clear run he was pushing for 2nd place.

RACE 6
2190m NR 60 -75

Summary:  Cutty Sark was up in class but that was no problem as he led & won as he liked.  With the favourite on his outside Dance For Me, Ryan Sanderson kept them rolling along & he was simply too good for them.  Cemetery Bay is the one I'm keen to follow.  He was 1st up here & never got a crack at the after snagging back from gate 6.  Looks to have returned in good order

Follow:  Cemetery Bay

RACE 7
2190M NR 54 - 59

Summary:  Drive of the night from James Herbertson on Rocks Arent Pets.  If you did your form pre race you'd know that Holzhauer was leading & was handing up to the best option over the 2190m.  From gate 11, Herby somehow was the first horse to that spot & the lead was his.  Game over!  I really liked Gracie Cullen's run.  She was 3 wide without cover making her run in the 28.1s 3rd quarter & although beaten a far way, she was the best of the wide runners by far. She's a 54 rater so maybe a win not far away in slightly lower company

RACE 8
2190M NR 75 -120

Summary:  The fast class race for the night & close to the slowest early sectionals for the night but still the leaders struggled & poor runs from Lorimermajor (might've been out of its class) & Thomas Heights.  National Draft keeps going up huge odds in these races & keeps going huge.  A win not far away.  Sahara Tiger was simply too good for them though in what was a strange race based on times for the fast class.

Follow:  National Draft

RACE 9
1790M  NR 50 to 53

Summary: Im Princess Bella led & won as she liked at $1.06 in a race set up for the peg runners.  Not sure if Trigger handled the track but gave Lisa Ryan some steering issues up the straight & probably should've finished closer.  Billy Jack held on well from the death

Follow:  Trigger & Billy Jack

RACE 10
1790M  2&3yo

Summary:  Nothing to take out of this one.  Blake Bolac lead easily & won easily.  Some interesting drives in the race & some of the youngsters misbehaved badly

RACE 11
2190M 3yo

Summary:  Its becoming a proven formula for Yering Soho.  Mildura over the 2190m = WIN!  Tarifa Girl was a short priced fav & had her chance.  Maybe the sprint distance is more her go.  Sayde Jayne an eye catcher after a few things went wrong.  She has more than enough talent to win plenty around Mildura

Follow:  Sayde Jayne

RACE 12
1790M  Maiden

Summary:  Whodat Boodat the winner here. After having the perfect trip throughout she tried to find something to beat her but nothing could.  Mister Excessive should've been that horse but after he elected to take a sit early from gate 1, the runs didnt come.  Should've won.
